I have thirteen tattoos. I think they're all pretty cool (and definitely don't qualify as "bad-quality").
Mother Is God in the Eyes of a Child
There is perhaps no greater love that exists in the world than the love between mother and child. How often have we heard that love isn't logical, that it bends not to reason or rationalization? Love isn't brains; it's blood. When two people commune with their bodies to create a child, they are doing something that can never again be replicated in quite the same way. The exact combination of color and skin is unique only to the child you bear.
Once formed, the mother carries her child around inside her for nine months, providing food and shelter, nourishing, growing, helping, loving. And when the baby emerges healthy, wailing at the top of his lungs as he takes his first breath, and he and his mother meet eye to eye for the first time, there is a connection formed in that instant that can never be broken.
The Impact of Having a Child
I have seen people turn their lives around for the sake of a child. I have seen teenagers who were mere children themselves instantly become adults when pregnancy occurred, unplanned, while they were still in high school. I have seen women take the high road time and time again, choosing to give up their previous plans and rewrite the script of their lives when a baby came along.
My own mother became pregnant with me when she was eighteen years old and just about to graduate high school. She was unmarried and not engaged at the time, and though her boyfriend pushed for abortion, saying he'd stay with her if she did, she gathered up inner resources she didn't even know she had and pushed him right out the door. She raised me on her own with the help of my grandparents, and because of this, the bond that we share is unbreakable.
Tattoos That Celebrate Parenthood
Is it any wonder that "Mom" tattoos are so popular? What better way to artistically honor the woman who gave you life? Likewise, it is common for parents—mothers and fathers alike— to celebrate the birth of their children by inking their baby's name or birth date some place on their skin.
There will always be the traditional name tattoos, which are beautiful in and of themselves. But parents are constantly coming up with more and more unique methods of devoting a section of skin to the children they created. Here are some of the many ways of doing so.
- Baby Footprint Tattoos
- Lettering a Child's Name

For mumof2boys..... It wouold depend on how close you are to your stepdaughter. We wouldn't want her to think your trying to hard. But if you are very close i would definantly get her name alongside your boys name.
I am looking at getting my childrens names and birthdates tattooed on the insides of my arms (probably forearm)

People must not know what a tramp stamp is. A tramp stamp is a tattoo on your very very lower back (above your butt). It's called a tramp stamp because when your going doggie style the guy can read your tattoo. So yeah, I agree that a tramp stamp with your child's name is in poor taste and bad placement. Mike is not referring to every tattoo being a tramp stamp. That placement is called a tramp stamp. I had no idea people didn't know what that was lol.
I like the foot tattoos. I saw one with a hand print and that was really cute too. I like the daughter's handwriting, very cute idea.

What lovely ideas!
Since being a child myself, I have always know I've wanted my children's names on my right arm somewhere and somehow (Coming from the 'I'd give my right arm for you' phrase).
When I was pregnant, I was thinking of having my daughter's name on the back of my right shoulder, with her actual handprint underneath and her date of birth at the bottom. In pink, of course, for a princess loves her pink!
However, she was born prematurely due to placental abruption and had to be born before she was expected by an emergency caesarian.
She had to be revived on being born as her heartrate had dropped to nill. They told us, had she have been born a mere two minutes further on, she wouldn't be with us today.
This gave her her name, 'Franchesca Faith' - so no matter what life brings she will always have faith, as I had in her on the day she was born. Also because my mother is religious and 'Faith' was something special to her.
This made me want to include some sort of 'miracle side' or 'angel side' into my tattoo. I am yet to come to some sort of conclusion into how I am going to do that. I'm wanting to design the tattoo myself to make it extra special (haha, artistic side coming out here! I'm just getting to grips with an artistic drawing tablet). If anyone has any ideas how I can incorporate something as special as stated above into it, I would love to hear it!
This is something I'm obviously not wanting to rush into, as I'm wanting it to be perfect and will hopefully have many years of memories with her to come - me being nineteen and her being 15 weeks.
Anyway, I think I've decided on getting her hand and footprint on the front of my right forearm in the usual black ink, with her name in script and date of birth (and, somehow, the reference to miracle / angel) and such... and just hope I don't follow my parents lead of having ten children (I think I might run out of arm!)
There's nothing quite as special as family, and marking your love to them on your person is simply perfect.

Bmunson so agree !! And Page, I think your reason for getting a tatoo is really special and a permanent imprint with you of such an important part in your life is what a tattoo should be all about. I was late in the tattoos stage but im happy with that as the 2 I currently have are about things that have changed my life forver. I love asking about someones tattoo and getting a meaningful memory shared . My first tattoo was a sag star sign on my angle slightly altered to an S to represent my starsign and my husband who is also a sag (as am I) and my baby (my dog) whos both names start with S .... they were life changing for me in so many ways. My second tattoo was after the birth of my son which we had to accept may never happen... so for him I had - lOVE, LAUGH, LIVE in a horsehoe shape and in the centre were his initials JRS and I love it as it represents a new chapter and an overpowering love that I have never experienced and the words are my dreams for his future. I have just had a little girl which was another blessing and I want another small meaningful tattoo for her but again I want something to express my desires for her journey in life.. can't decide where to have it as this stage though. But tattoos that tell about a life changing experience, or someones deep passion for something are special and deserve to be there for a lifetime.

I had a tattoo done wrapping around my ankle with both mine and my two son's ECG rythms.(I hooked them up to a heart montor at work & printed them off)The boys picked their favorite colors of blue & green to have their ECG's done in, and I chose a dark pink for mine. Since I am an EMT I had the rythm's unite to the EMS Star of Life on the outside of my ankle. Another idea for someone else could be connecting the ECG rythms with initials, etc. This is my symbolism of how my boys were once a part of my body & our hearts beat side by side. I will forever have their heartbeats with me. In honor of my first son who was born premature & only lived for 11days, I had an angel placed on my left shoulder. Hope this helps some of you for ideas. In the end all that matters is what the tattoo symbolizes to you. So forget all the negative views.

Don't people have better things to do than put other people down. You don't even know them or their situation, so you should not judge. Most of these people are getting tattoos for some kind of memorial to a child they lost or the children they are thankful for and love with all their hearts and want the world to see. I am 44 years old and I am getting my first tattoo for my son who is in the army and risking his life for all of us to have our freedom. Also am getting one other one with my husbands name because I want to show him how much he means to me. My husband has cancer in his brain and I never know what is going to happen. So if you have nothing nice to say just say nothing at all and get the hell off this page!

I think the bitch talking shit DOESN'T have kids because if that person did they would NOT be talkin about mothers/fathers being trashy for having or wanting tats of their child/children. Clearly that stuck up person is jealous and only wishes they have a beautiful lil one to hold and cherish forever! I have 3 lil one a 4.3 and 2 year old. I had 3 kids in 2 and a half years, I love them all so much that I would do ANYTHING for them. People like to talk shit and run their mouth because they only wish they could have what someone else has. Great job on most of the tats, but honestly, a few looked like they were done by someone with less experience than others.
